UMT hosts food drive in Lakeland to benefit kidsPACK

United Methodist Temple, located in Lakeland, FL, has been a long supporter of kidsPACK both financial and through volunteering.

On Saturday, May 7th the Church is hosting a food drive for kidsPACK in the Church’s parking lot located at 2700 Florida Avenue South from 9am – 2pm.

We sat down with Reverend Pam DeDea to discuss the congregation’s passion for working with people who are marginalized:

Why are you hosting a food drive for kidsPACK?

“Because there is a need!”. United Methodist Temple financially supports and deliveries food to both Cleveland Court and Southwest Elementary schools, so Pam and her congregation witness firsthand the food access and shortage issues plaquing our community.

Why do you partner with kidsPACK?

“Because kidsPACK fills a need in the community, why would we reinvent the wheel when our dollars can go further by partnering with kidsPACK”

United Methodist Temple’s local outreach also supports Heartland for Children and Talbot House charities. United Methodist Temple has Sunday school at 9am and one service each Sunday at 10:30am in their beautiful sanctuary.

Their congregation is small, but their hearts are big! For more information on United Methodist Temple visit their website at www.umt.org or Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MyUMTemple

Come out and support kidsPACK on May 7th! kidsPACK does provide meals over the Summer to our students and like everyone else, food is still hard to purchase in bulk so food collected will go towards the meals provided over the Summer of 2022.
